Restoration of Former Sand and Gravel Workings to Provide Holiday and Leisure Accommodation, Derbyshire

South Derbyshire District Council has approved an application to restore part of a former sand and gravel quarry to provide high specification holiday accommodation. The Application site lies between an established village and a Local Nature Reserve and the Application was accompanied by an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

In order to demonstrate that the development posed negligible risk the EIA included a Flood Risk Assessment, Ecological reports, a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment and a Contaminated Land Assessment.

The Application was approved at Committee, subject to a Section 106 agreement. As the development involved the alteration of an approved restoration strategy, an application to vary the minerals permission (a Section 73 application) was also submitted to, and approved by, Derbyshire County Council.
