Local Plan Representations

Local Plan Representations

Planning Authorities are required to prepare and maintain a Local Plan to guide development in their area and to identify a supply of land to meet future development needs. Local Plans must go through a number of consultation stages before adoption.

Whatever development is proposed it is essential that landowners, and others who wish to ensure that planning policy supports their development aspirations, are involved in the Local Plan process, so as to promote their site and steer local development in their preferred direction.

Hughes Craven can assist by:

  • Undertaking initial site assessments, including geological and environmental screening and a review of existing and emerging planning policy.
  • Promotion of sites through the Local Plan process and representation at examinations in public.
  • Objections to the emerging plan where it may adversely impact development proposals.
  • Preparation of Mineral Resource Assessments to support non-mineral development site allocations.
