Lincolnshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan Review

Lincolnshire County Council have confirmed that, following an in-depth review of their existing planning policy, they intend to undertake a full Review of their Minerals and Waste Local Plan (MWLP).

The existing Local Plan comprises of two parts; the Core Strategy and Development Management Policies document, adopted in 2016, and the Site Locations document, adopted in 2017. A new Minerals and Waste Development Scheme came into effect in February 2021 and sets out the timetable for the preparation of a new Plan, which will be produced as a single document. The currently proposed timetable includes:

  • Consultation on Issues and Options, including a “call for sites” exercise (Regulation 18) – Spring 2022.
  • Consultation on the Preferred Approach (Draft) of the new MWLP (Regulation 18) – Spring 2023.
  • Publication of the ‘Proposed Submission’ version of the new MWLP (Regulation 19) – Spring 2024.
  • Submission to Secretary of State – Summer 2024.
  • Examination in Public – Autumn 2024.
  • Adoption – Winter 2024/2025.

Hughes Craven Ltd. will be continuing to monitor the emerging Plan and a number of Clients have already expressed interest in promoting both minerals and waste sites. If you have a site that you would like to be promoted through the Plan process, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss the best way forwards.
