10ha. Quarry Extension Approved

On behalf of a long-standing Client, Hughes Craven Ltd. has successfully secured a ten hectare extension to a limestone quarry in North Lincolnshire.

The existing quarry was granted permission in 2009 following a Public Inquiry and has now become an important supplier to the construction industry within North Lincolnshire. Whilst permitted reserves remain, the operator wished to secure permission for an extension in order to safeguard the future of the site and allow investment in both plant and staff. In addition to primary mineral extraction, the application also included provision for the importation and recycling of Construction, Demolition and Excavation wastes.

The application was accompanied by a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), prepared by Hughes Craven Ltd., the scope of which was set out in a formal Scoping Opinion adopted by North Lincolnshire Council (NLC). In preparing the EIA Hughes Craven Ltd. worked with a variety of technical consultants, many of which have supported the Company on previous occasions and have a proven track record of delivering timely and cost effective advice.

Following receipt of a wide range of formal consultation responses, the proposed conditions were agreed between the NLC and the Applicant, and the application was approved under delegated powers, within the 16 week target determination period.
